Purchase of Service Canines

The County of San Mateo Sheriff's Department is seeking a contractor to provide qualified K-9s for Bomb Squad and Narcotics work. The contractor will be responsible for offering a selection of healthy K-9s that meet specific criteria, including a good bill of health, temperament, and compatibility. The K-9s will be required to pass a basic pre-selection process, which may include tests such as hunt test, drive test, and obstacle/agility evaluation. The contractor shall also provide a guarantee period to replace the K-9 for any provision related to health, genetic, training, or compatibility concerns. • The K-9s shall be bred for law enforcement work. • The K-9s shall have a general good bill of health record, free of any illness, including genetic, hereditary, or skeletal abnormalities. • The K-9s shall be unaltered. • The contractor shall show evidence of testing and training record if the K-9 is documented as certified. • The contractor shall provide a replacement guarantee for any K-9 returned due to concerns or issues identified after purchase.
