Description
The U.S. Air Force is seeking a contractor to engineer, furnish, install, and test twelve (12) single‑mode fiber‑optic strands between the Lightning Vault Building (Bldg 1603) and the ATCALS Weather Instrument site on Wake Island. The work includes installing new fiber‑optic distribution panels, complying with extensive explosive‑ordnance disposal (EOD) and UXO clearance requirements, handling hazardous materials, and coordinating logistics for equipment rentals, fuel, and personnel travel. The contractor must manage on‑site billeting, per‑diem, and adhere to strict safety and environmental protocols on a remote Pacific island base.
• Install 12 SM fiber strands with associated distribution panels.
• Perform required UXO detection, clearance, and MEC reporting per EM‑385‑1‑97.
• Coordinate equipment rentals (MinX, trencher, skid‑steer) through ASRCC.
• Provide on‑site lodging, meals, and travel support for personnel (airfare, baggage).
• Ensure fuel (diesel/JP‑5) availability and manage fuel procurement.
• Comply with concrete‑encased micro‑duct protection for road crossings.
• Deliver testing and acceptance of the installed fiber system.
