Interferometry Laser - Combined Sources Sought Notice and Notice of Intent to Sole Source

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting market research to identify potential sources for a tunable laser system for use in laser interferometry on microwave acoustic devices. The system must include a tunable diode laser operating around a wavelength of 780 nm, a laser controller with power and control electronics, and laser locking capabilities. The laser will be used in mass sensing experiments for atomic layer deposition processes. NIST is seeking information from companies that can provide a solution meeting the specified requirements, which include a minimum wavelength range, mode-hop free tuning range, maximum power, and other technical specifications. • The laser system must have a minimum wavelength range of 770 nm to 815 nm. • The system must have a mode-hop free tuning range of at least 20 GHz. • The maximum power at 780 nm must be at least 35 mW. • The typical instantaneous linewidth must be less than or equal to 1 kHz. • The beam polarization must be linear with a ratio greater than 100:1.
