Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting market research to identify potential sources of commercial products or services that can provide a fast digitizer system. This system must have specific technical specifications, including 8 analog inputs and outputs, high-speed data transfer, and the ability to be controlled using the Python programming language. The system should also have various software instrument modules and be capable of internal data storage and streaming to external storage. The ideal system should be fully integrated, including all necessary software, and be operable from a computer interface. Key features and requirements include: • 8 analog inputs with at least 2 GHz analog bandwidth and 5 G samples/sec • 8 analog outputs with at least 2 GHz maximum output frequency and 5 G samples/sec • At least 1 TB memory or SSD internal data storage • Ability to record and playback data at 80 Gbps • Compatibility with Python computing language • Fully integrated system with all necessary software • Capability for internal loading of user-generated programs in a hardware definition language The purpose of this notice is to gather information from potential sources, and responses should include company information, product details, technical specifications, and any other relevant data that demonstrates the company's capability to meet NIST's requirements.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $1,500,000

Given the complexity and specificity of the fast digitizer system, including its high-speed data transfer capabilities, internal data storage, and software requirements, the cost could be substantial. For similar laboratory equipment with advanced capabilities, prices can range from a few hundred thousand dollars to over a million dollars, depending on the exact specifications and the vendor. Considering the technical requirements outlined, a reasonable estimate for the cost of such a system could be between $200,000 and $1,500,000. This range takes into account the potential for customization, the inclusion of software and hardware components, and the necessity for high-speed data processing and storage. Factors influencing this estimate include the number of channels, the speed of data transfer, the amount of internal storage, the complexity of the software instrument modules, and whether the system is fully integrated or if additional components are required.
