Description
The Opioid Antagonist Distribution Initiative (YH27‑0018) is a grant program administered by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System to fund the distribution of naloxone and related overdose‑prevention services in rural, frontier, and Tribal communities across Arizona. After a public RFGA process that attracted 14 applicants, four organizations were selected to receive sub‑awards from a $1.5 million pool. The program emphasizes measurable impact on overdose prevention, collaboration with Tribal partners, and alignment with the Arizona Health Improvement Plan.
• Funding is sourced from CMS/HHS, with a total sub‑award pool of $1.5 M divided among four awardees.
• Applicants were evaluated on need, capacity, design, sustainability, budget reasonableness, and bonus points for Tribal partnerships and AzHIP alignment.
• The awardees include county substance‑abuse coalitions, a regional health center, a professional medical association chapter, and a county public health district.
