The contract is for the renovation of the Emergency Department Observation Unit at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. The scope of work includes the build-out of twelve observation beds, new hand sinks, med gas distribution, new ceilings, and new lighting and air devices and distribution. The contract was awarded to Turner Construction Company for a total of $2,723,520, which includes a construction price of $2,269,600 and an owner's contingency of $453,920. The contract is for a period of one year, starting from May 25, 2023, and ending on May 25, 2024. • The project is in urgent need of expanding the Observation Units capacity due to high patient volume and hospital overcrowding in the Emergency Center. • The technology scope includes the addition of nurse call, paging/intercom, security cameras, access control, and structured cabling installation and integration. • The MWBE participation goal is 32%. • The estimated total construction cost is $2,723,520.
