Mountain Lion Monitoring Houndsman

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking qualified houndsmen to provide treeing and darting services for mountain lions during the winter 2026/2027 season in the Northwest Lion Ecoregion (Middle Clark Fork area near St. Regis, MT). Vendors must submit a per‑day cost proposal covering labor, hounds, equipment, transportation, and incidentals, and demonstrate extensive experience with mountain‑lion hound work. The contract will be awarded on a sealed‑bid basis, with the final bid deadline on August 18, 2026. • Minimum 5 years hounds experience and at least 10 winter‑season mountain‑lion treed records required • Ability to supply hounds, equipment, transportation, and submit daily GPS track logs • Service to be performed up to 4 days per week on a per‑day rate; optional qualifications include summer‑lion experience and prior research‑project involvement.
