Description
The City of Long Beach is seeking a Conductor and Master of Ceremonies for the Municipal Band Summer Concert Series. The selected contractor will oversee artistic direction, personnel recruitment and management, rehearsals, and performances for the Municipal Concert Band and the Studio Jazz Ensemble. The contract is for one year with the option to renew annually for up to four additional years. The City is looking for a professional conductor/producer with experience managing large musical ensembles, coordinating technical production, and engaging diverse audiences.
• The contractor will be responsible for planning and coordinating all artistic and administrative activities for the concert series.
• The contractor will recruit and contract qualified professional musicians, guest vocalists, and sound/technical crew.
• The contractor will select concert repertoire and themes, develop rehearsal and performance schedules, and coordinate with City staff.
• The contractor will ensure compliance with all safety standards and City policies.
• The contractor will provide a final report summarizing program outcomes, audience attendance estimates, and production highlights.
