Description

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking information from vendors of driving automation systems to explore the suitability of these systems in remote locations with differing road surfaces, wildlife, topographies, and other public land elements. The goal is to advance the research, development, and deployment of driving automation systems in remote environments. The service is looking for vendors to provide information on their driving automation systems, including their technical capabilities, knowledge, and expertise. The information provided will be used to inform the next steps in the approach for conducting research and implementation of driving automation systems on FWS National Wildlife Refuges. Some of the key aspects of this opportunity include: • Evaluating the performance of driving automation systems on different road surfaces • Analyzing the interaction between driving automation systems and wildlife • Developing recommendations for strategies, policy, and developmental elements to avoid, reduce, and/or mitigate adverse driving automation systems impacts in public lands • Identifying future collaborative research opportunities with private industry and public research institutions • Exploring the potential for integrating driving automation systems with wildlife conservation efforts

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $1,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as it is a Request for Information and not a solicitation for bids or proposals. However, the U.S. Government may potentially award contracts to vendors who participate in the pilot projects, and the value of these contracts could range from $100,000 to $1,000,000 or more, depending on the scope and complexity of the projects. The budget will likely depend on factors such as the number of vendors selected, the duration of the pilot projects, and the level of funding allocated to the program.
