Description

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) is seeking input to this Request for Information (RFI) to inform future programming focused on improving working conditions in the processing of E-waste. E-waste includes a wide range of electric and electronic devices. This RFI seeks to identify efforts of businesses, governments, international organizations, worker organizations, NGOs, and other actors to create decent work and promote fundamental labor rights in E-waste processing, including freedom of association, elimination of forced labor, abolition of child labor, elimination of discrimination, and ensuring a safe and healthy working environment. • The RFI is focused on E-waste processing, which includes the collection, sorting, shredding, recycling, and disposal of E-waste. • The RFI is seeking input on laws and policies that promote decent work in E-waste processing. • The RFI is also seeking examples of E-waste processing operations with high labor standards. • The RFI is seeking information on effective ways to engage with governments, businesses, workers, and other actors to improve working conditions in E-waste processing.

$500,000 – $5,000,000

Since this is a Request for Information and not a funding opportunity, there is no budget or award associated with this RFI. However, if a future funding opportunity were to be announced based on the input received from this RFI, the budget could potentially be in the range of $500,000 to $5,000,000, depending on the scope and scale of the project. This estimate is based on the typical funding ranges for similar projects focused on improving working conditions and promoting decent work in the waste management sector.
