The contractor will pick up a variable mix of end‑of‑life computers, laptops, monitors, servers, printers, UPS units and related batteries on a monthly basis from the city’s designated address. All hard drives must be Department of Defense (DoD)‑level wiped or physically destroyed, and all batteries must be handled in compliance with hazardous‑waste regulations. The contract is for an initial one‑year term with four optional one‑year renewals, payable within 30 days of each pickup. Bidders must submit pricing for each equipment type, meet extensive insurance and safety requirements, and provide certifications (e‑verify, drug‑free workplace, human‑trafficking affidavit, etc.). The solicitation is posted October 1, 2026; questions are due October 21, 2026; bids are due October 29, 2026 at 3:00 PM via the City’s OpenGov portal. • Monthly collection of assorted IT hardware and batteries from 501 East Lemon St., Lakeland, FL 33801. • DoD‑level data sanitization or destruction of all hard drives. • Compliance with hazardous‑waste disposal for batteries. • Initial 1‑year term, with up to four 1‑year renewal options (mutual consent). • Payment within 30 days of each pickup; pricing required per equipment line item. • Mandatory insurance (CGL ≥ $1 M, auto ≥ $1 M, workers’ comp, pollution liability, cyber/privacy liability ≥ $1 M). • Numerous certifications required (e‑verify, drug‑free, human‑trafficking, etc.). • Submission electronically via OpenGov portal; questions due Oct 21, 2026; bid deadline Oct 29, 2026, 3 PM.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $250,000

The solicitation does not disclose a total contract value. Typical municipal electronics‑recycling contracts of this scope (monthly pickups of a mid‑size city’s IT inventory) range from roughly $100,000 to $300,000 per year, depending on volume, travel distance, and the cost of DoD‑level data sanitization. Assuming an average of 50–150 items per month at $20–$40 per item (including handling, transport, data wiping, and battery disposal), the annual spend would likely fall between $12,000 and $72,000 for the pickup service alone. Adding insurance, reporting, and administrative overhead pushes the realistic budget to the $100k–$250k range. Therefore, a reasonable estimate for the contractor’s revenue is **$100,000 – $250,000** for the first year, with potential increase if renewal options are exercised.
