RFI Responses: RFI 1: Many of the existing metal flashings, behind the dormers, had been altered/replaced during previous roof replacement projects, with some new metals installed in grooves cut in stonework. Are the metals behind existing dormers scheduled for the replacement? If yes, please provide an architectural detail for this scope of work. Contractor shall verify the existing metal flashings are in good condition. Existing metal flashings in good condition shall remain. If the metal flashing is loose, contractor shall resecure and reseal caulk around the existing flashing. RFI 2: Please indicate the quantities, if any, of the Yankee gutter that need to be replaced. Also, please provide detail and scope of work for the masonry joint/through wall counter flashing at Yankee gutter. Existing Yankee gutters shall remain. Contractor shall inspect all existing Yankee gutters and repair, and re-solder failed joints, seams and connections reseal leaking areas, repair supports and hangers and replace only those components that are beyond practical repair. Contractor shall maintain the original appearance and craftsmanship of the historic copper system. RFI 3: The Alternate No. [16] calls for securing of all existing chimneys to building with threaded rods. Please provide the architectural detail for the securement of chimneys. Please clarify if the engineering calculations will be required for this scope of work. Contractor shall utilize typical construction methods/details to secure existing chimneys and provide engineering calculations along with a shop drawing detail the will be approved by the village. RFI 4: The Alternate No. 17 calls for masonry structural repairs, replacing/securing loose bricks and stones. And securing stone dormers. Please clarify the quantities/percentage of stonework and brick work that is included in specified 10,000 SF area. Please specify the quantities of brickwork and stonework that needs to be replaced in the specified scope of work. Please specify the quantities of brickwork and stonework that needs to be secured/reset in the specified scope of work. Is there any repointing that needs to be included in the specified scope of work. If yes, please provide the repointing/replacement ratio. Please provide the specification and drawings for the stonework scheduled for replacement. Specific quantities will be determined in the field up to 10,000 SF, if required. RFI 5: The specification section 07 52 16 -27 & 13, paragraphs S,T,U call for the installation of surface mounted counterflashings, and through wall counterflashings. Is through wall flashing to be installed on this project? Only surface mounted counterflashings are to be installed for this project.
