Generative Optogenetics (GO) Working Group

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is seeking facilitators to establish and manage working groups dedicated to three topic areas: Biosecurity, Regulatory Policy, and Commercialization. These working groups will play a critical role in addressing the security and regulatory challenges associated with Generative Optogenetics (GO) technologies. The working groups will be responsible for recruiting members, facilitating discussions, synthesizing outputs, and ensuring alignment with program objectives. Some key aspects of the job include: • Establishing and managing working groups to address biosecurity, regulatory policy, and commercialization challenges • Recruiting members and facilitating discussions to ensure alignment with program objectives • Synthesizing outputs and providing recommendations to DARPA • Collaborating with other working groups and technical performers to inform responsible development, deployment, governance, and financing of GO technologies • Developing policy recommendations, biosecurity guidelines, and best practices to ensure the safety and security of the program's outputs • Identifying regulatory concerns and developing forward-looking regulatory guidelines to inform GO performers and future investors • Providing commercialization support to performers, including guidance on markets, business cases, and financial pathways
