Description

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is seeking to procure Ceres Nanosciences Reagents for wastewater surveillance testing. The reagents are proprietary magnetic hydrogel particles designed to capture and concentrate low-abundance microbes from complex environmental, wastewater, and clinical samples. The sole source justification is based on the fact that Ceres Nanoscience is the only vendor that manufactures and supplies these particles, which are compatible with the current automation infrastructure and allow for sensitive and specific testing. • The project involves the use of Ceres Nanotrap Microbiome Particles for viral and bacterial targets. • The particles are designed to capture and concentrate low-abundance microbes from complex environmental, wastewater, and clinical samples. • The reagents are compatible with the current automation infrastructure and allow for sensitive and specific testing. • The vendor has licenses and certification to distribute the required microbiome particles with all relevant lot and QA/QC information. • The program has revisited the current market to look at existing and emerging protocols to determine if a competitor has emerged in the wastewater space.

Budget estimate

$3,000,000 – $3,500,000

The estimated dollar amount for the project is $3.5M, which is based on the sole source justification document. The cost includes the price of the Ceres Nanotrap Microbiome Particles and other related expenses. The vendor has provided a price increase due to a change in volume format, but the program has verified that the unit price per uL of beads has not changed. The estimated cost is considered fair and reasonable based on the market prices of similar products.
