Elevator Inspection Services

The City of Newport News is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide comprehensive elevator inspection services for City-owned facilities. The selected contractor will be responsible for performing periodic and acceptance inspections, witnessing safety tests, and reporting any unsafe conditions. The contract will be for an initial period of one year, with the option to renew for up to four additional one-year periods. The City is looking for a contractor with experience in providing similar services and a strong understanding of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. • The contractor will be required to furnish all labor, supervision, inspection tools, and inspection equipment. • The contractor will be required to verify and report on machine room maintenance check charts and fire service check charts. • The contractor will be required to witness all periodic safety tests and provide a written report. • The contractor will be required to maintain adequate liability insurance and provide proof of insurance prior to commencement of services. • The contractor will be required to comply with all federal and state statutory regulations pertaining to Workers' Compensation requirements. • The contractor will be required to name the City as an additional insured on all insurance policies.
