Description
The United States Air Force (USAF) is seeking information from potential small business sources for the modification of approximately 115 C-130J and HC-130J aircraft. The modification, known as Block 8.1, includes numerous software upgrades, new communications navigation and identification system processor, Link-16, new pilot and co-pilot control wheel, and other upgrades. The USAF anticipates providing approximately 15-21 aircraft per year, with each modification expected to be completed in 130 days or less. The contractor will be required to have appropriate hangar space and temporary shelter for the aircraft, as well as the ability to provide additional office space for government modification managers and quality assurance personnel.
• The contractor must have experience working with the C-130J Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, and other C-130J part suppliers.
• The contractor must have the ability to fully jack, tow, refuel, lox, preserve, and maintain the C-130J and HC-130J aircraft for the duration it is at the contractor's facility.
• The contractor must have current non-destructive test (NDT) capabilities and tool/equipment calibration capabilities.
• The contractor must have sound-blanket manufacture and repair capability.
• The contractor must be prepared to address pre-existing issues on the aircraft, such as bleed air valve replacements, prop changes, and gear box changes.
