Description

The U.S. Army is seeking industry input for the development of the Future Advanced Long-range Common Optical/Netted-fires Sensor (FALCONS) program. The program aims to replace the current Long Range Advanced Scout Surveillance System (LRAS3) and Fire Support Sensor System (FS3) with a new advanced long-range sensor capability. The Army is looking for vendors who can modify the Common Advanced Multi-band Thermal Aided Configurable Sensor (CAMTACS) prototype to meet the requirements of the FALCONS program. The vendor will be required to produce five FALCONS sensors, provide technical assistance, and participate in testing and characterization. Some key features of the FALCONS system include: • Integration of the U.S. Army's 3GEN FLIR B-Kit • Precision Far Target Location (FTL) sub-system • Networked capability for cooperative engagements • Hardware to host Aided Target Detection and Recognition (AiTDR) algorithms • Automated alignment between the optical (day and thermal) cameras, Inertial Navigation System (INS), and Laser Rangefinder The Army is seeking information on vendors' capabilities and experience in designing, building, testing, and modifying systems with similar characteristics to the FALCONS program.

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $50,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, but based on the requirements of the FALCONS program, it is likely to be a multi-million dollar contract. The Army is seeking to develop a new advanced long-range sensor capability, which will require significant investment in research and development, testing, and production. The contract may involve multiple phases, including design, development, testing, and production, each with its own budget and timeline. The total budget will depend on the complexity of the system, the number of units produced, and the duration of the contract. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include: - The complexity of the FALCONS system and the required technologies - The number of units produced and the production schedule - The duration of the contract and the scope of work - The level of competition and the number of bidders - The Army's budget and funding priorities Based on these factors, a rough estimate of the budget range could be between $10 million and $50 million.
