Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from potential vendors for an optical microscope. The microscope will be used for nondestructive defect detection metrology (NDDM) for semiconductor advanced packaging projects. The minimum requirements for the microscope include an upright microscope capable of reflected light measurements, equipped with light-emitting diode (LED) light source(s), and capable of bright field (BF), dark field (DF), and differential interference contrast (DIC) imaging. The microscope should also have a mechanism to change imaging modes and lenses without accessing the computer software, and be equipped with a digital camera and compatible camera adapter(s). Some key features of the required microscope include: • Upright microscope with reflected light measurements • LED light source(s) • Bright field, dark field, and differential interference contrast imaging capabilities • Mechanism to change imaging modes and lenses without accessing computer software • Digital camera with at least 5 Megapixel resolution • Compatible camera adapter(s) • Motorized stage translatable in x, y, and z directions • Focus stroke distance of at least 24 mm • Sample height of at least 38 mm The information received in response to this notice will be reviewed and considered for future solicitations.

Budget estimate

$10,000 – $30,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate without more information about the specific requirements and the vendor's pricing. However, the cost of an optical microscope can range from $5,000 to $50,000 or more, depending on the features and quality of the instrument. The factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the microscope, the number of features required, and the vendor's pricing strategy. Based on the minimum requirements specified in the document, a reasonable estimate for the budget could be between $10,000 and $30,000.
