High-Rate Mobility Request for Information (RFI)

NASA's Ames Research Center is seeking information from potential sources for planetary surface mobility and navigation. The goal is to develop robust, high-rate, autonomous surface mobility for future planetary surface missions. The center is looking for information about the navigation capabilities of potential mobility system providers and the requirements of potential users of planetary surface mobility. Respondents can provide information about their mobility systems or concepts, as well as any relevant requirements or use cases. Some key points to consider include: • The development of new technologies such as rover-capable Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) sensors and high-performance space computing. • The potential for future systems to move faster and cover longer distances with less need for human operator oversight. • The possibility of achieving significantly greater science objectives at reduced cost. • The importance of adapting cutting-edge technologies to the unique challenges of planetary surface mobility on the Moon and Mars.
