Description

The City of Newport News is seeking a Construction Manager at Risk (CMaR) to provide services for the development of a new Copeland Park Pumping Station. The new facility should provide a firm pumping capacity of 12 million gallons per day, incorporate modern building construction methods, and integrate seamlessly with the existing 5-million-gallon water storage tank. The CMaR will be responsible for pre-construction services, construction of the new pumping station, and full construction management through project closeout. Key responsibilities include cost studies, constructability reviews, construction budget, logistics review, schedules, and system analysis. The City will use a two-phase competitive negotiation process to select a CMaR. Some key points to consider: * The project requires a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contract * The CMaR will work closely with the Designer and City to understand the design and project * The CMaR will provide cost information throughout design to monitor the budget and help with decision making * The project has a complex scope of work, including the construction of a new pump station and the integration with the existing water storage tank * The City is looking for a CMaR with experience in similar projects and a strong track record of delivering projects on time and within budget * The project has a tight timeline, with a completion date of 1500 calendar days from the date of award

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $50,000,000

Based on the project description, the estimated budget for this project is likely to be in the range of $10 million to $50 million. The project involves the construction of a new pumping station with a firm pumping capacity of 12 million gallons per day, which is a significant infrastructure project. The cost of similar projects in the region, the complexity of the scope of work, and the requirement for a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contract all suggest that the budget will be substantial. However, without more detailed information on the project budget and the City's procurement process, it is difficult to provide a more precise estimate. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the City's budget for the project, the level of competition among bidders, and the complexity of the scope of work.
