Description

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is accepting applications from multifamily building owners, managers, or operators for their buildings to become Qualified Demonstration Sites for the Clean Heat for All: Packaged Terminal Heat Pump Program. The program aims to qualify multifamily buildings of at least 5 apartment units located in New York State, with existing through-wall openings suitable for Packaged Terminal Heat Pump (PTHP) installation. The selected sites will host a demonstration project with a manufacturer awarded under PON 5907 by the 2026 Heating Season. Key requirements for the demonstration sites include: • Multifamily or Mixed-Use buildings in New York State with 5 or more permanently occupied dwelling units • Through-wall openings suitable for PTHP installation • Availability for field demonstration projects to begin no later than Winter (December) 2026 • Compliance with dimension constraints defined in either Category 1, 2, or 3 of PON 5907 • For dwellings that meet NYSERDA’s definition of Affordable Housing, the implementation of a PTHP demonstration will not result in the shifting of heating costs from landlord to tenant

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate as the document does not provide a clear budget or payment structure. However, considering the scope of the project, which involves the installation of Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps in multifamily buildings, the budget could range from $500,000 to $2 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the project will require significant engineering, architectural, and construction services. The actual budget may be higher or lower, depending on the specific requirements of the project and the number of demonstration sites selected.
