On-Site Training Basic Life Support - April & May

The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) intends to acquire Emergency Response and Basic Life Support Training for its field personnel on a sole source basis from Independence Training. The training will include specific certifications such as Stop-the-Bleed and American Heart Association (AHA) First Aid/CPR/AED, integrated with advanced trauma response techniques for remote, high-risk environments. The training will be provided on an 8:1 ratio, with one instructor for every eight students, and will include training materials and post-class resources. The key aspects of the training include: • Training based on national standards and committees • Nationally recognized Stop-the-Bleed certification • American Heart Association (AHA) two-year First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications • Instruction on techniques such as Start the Breathing, patient stabilization, and emergency response team management • Medical kit assessment and casualty evacuation considerations WAPA's Safety and Occupational Health Department has determined that Independence Training shall be the source for this training due to their unique capabilities and instructor-to-student ratio.
