Description

The Wayne County Airport Authority is seeking proposals from eligible law firms to provide comprehensive legal representation and advice in connection with potential and actual claims for damages and equitable relief arising from the contamination of airport property and surrounding areas by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) associated with the historical use of Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) for firefighting and training activities. The selected law firm will be required to provide all labor, material, tools, equipment, supplies, etc. for the purpose of providing legal services to the Airport Authority. The scope of services will include investigation and case assessment, litigation and MDL participation, communication and reporting, and settlement. • The law firm must have at least five years of experience representing plaintiffs in complex multidistrict litigation (MDL). • The law firm must have at least one example where they represented a plaintiff for MDL No. 2873 (Aqueous Film-Forming Foams Products Liability Litigation). • The law firm must provide at least three references from clients (preferably public entities or similarly situated plaintiffs) for whom the firm has provided representation in similar complex litigation matters within the last five years. • The lead counsel must be identified and possess at least ten years of experience in federal court litigation. • All attorneys proposed to be part of the contract must be licensed to practice law and in good standing with the United States District Court.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be substantial, given the complexity and scope of the litigation. The exact amount will depend on the terms of the contract and the services provided by the selected law firm. However, based on industry standards and the scope of the project, a reasonable estimate for the budget could be between $500,000 and $5 million. This estimate takes into account the potential for ongoing legal services, expert witness fees, and other expenses associated with the litigation.
