Notice of Intent to Sole Source services to maintain regular access to Advanced Photon Source (APS) - SER-CAT beam lines

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a sole source purchase order to The University of Georgia Research Foundation, Inc. (UGARF) to maintain regular access to their Advanced Photon Source (APS) - SER-CAT beam lines. The purpose of this contract is to collect, analyze, interpret, and evaluate structural data from viral proteins from pandemic or seasonal influenza viruses using highly specialized equipment and support from onsite qualified laboratory personnel. The contract is for commercial services, and UGARF is the only source providing the most advanced macromolecular crystallography capabilities currently available in the United States. • The contract is for the maintenance of regular access to APS - SER-CAT beam lines for sample processing and data collection. • The contract requires the use of highly specialized equipment and support from onsite qualified laboratory personnel. • The contract is for commercial services, and UGARF is the only source providing the most advanced macromolecular crystallography capabilities currently available in the United States. • The use of lower-intensity beamlines available through other facilities would result in reduced data quality and diminished analytical capability.
