RFP for Legal Services for the City of Lakeland Employees' Pension and Retirement System

The City of Lakeland Employees’ Pension & Retirement System Board of Trustees is seeking proposals from individual attorneys or law firms with an established practice in employee pension and retirement matters. The selected attorney or firm will be engaged for a five-year period, commencing immediately upon ratification of the agreement, to provide legal services to the City of Lakeland Employees' Pension and Retirement System. The scope of services includes advising on all facets of the existing Pension Plans, representing the Retirement System in administrative or judicial proceedings, and providing ongoing advice and counsel regarding pension-related matters. • The attorney or firm must have experience advising public pension systems and prior performance in comparable engagements. • The attorney or firm must have knowledge and experience in related fields, including employee benefits and other legal areas affecting public retirement systems. • The attorney or firm must have qualified key personnel with experience, availability, and capability to perform the majority of the work. • The attorney or firm must provide a competitive and reasonable cost proposal. • The attorney or firm must comply with the City's insurance and safety requirements, including maintaining certain types and amounts of insurance coverage. • The attorney or firm must provide references and certify that they are not suspended or debarred from doing business with the City.
