Senior Procurement Executive Message to the Department of State Contractor and Financial Assistance Community on the Lapse in Appropriations

The Department of State is experiencing a lapse in appropriations, which may affect contracts and grants. The Department's contracting officers and grant officers will notify contractors and grantees if their contract or grant will be affected. Unless notified otherwise, contractors and grantees must continue to comply with all terms, conditions, requirements, and deliveries specified in their contracts or grants. The Department will begin implementing a plan to resume activity once an extension to the Continuing Resolution or full-year appropriation is signed into law. • The lapse in appropriations may result in cancelled, postponed, or reduced contracts and grants. • Payments may be delayed. • Contractors and grantees must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of their contracts or grants unless notified otherwise. • The Department will notify contractors and grantees of the status of their contract or grant if it is affected by the lapse in appropriations.
