Untrained, Explosive-Detection-Capable Police Service Canines

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) Transit Bureau Canine Unit is seeking bids for the supply of a minimum of thirty (30) untrained, Explosives Detection-capable canines. These canines will be used to enhance patrols in the New York City subway system and must be capable of operating in crowded and noisy environments. They must also be able to safely operate in close proximity to over 5.7 million passengers daily. • The canines must be capable of detecting explosives in crowded subway platforms, mezzanines, stairs, escalators, and similar environments. • They must be able to operate in conditions involving a barrage of noises, near moving parts, and overlapping odors. • The canines' temperament must be bold enough to remain focused and effective in underground transit settings, yet docile enough to safely operate near passengers. • Responses to this procurement must be submitted via PASSPort, the City of New York's digital procurement platform.
