Description
The Santa Clara County Office of Education is seeking a qualified vendor to provide special‑education student transportation throughout the county’s public‑school system. The contract will initially run from January 1 2026 through June 30 2026 (six‑month term) with an optional second year and up to four additional one‑year renewals, for a possible total term of five years. Service must be delivered using school‑bus‑type vehicles (≤ 10 years old, ≤ 150,000 mi) equipped with two‑way FCC‑licensed radios, camera systems, and required safety equipment. The vendor must supply designated drivers, ride‑assistants where IEPs require, and provide detailed reporting (weekly trip reports, monthly maintenance logs, 24‑hour accident reports). Pricing must follow a base‑fee‑plus‑per‑mile model; flat‑rate proposals are not accepted. Subcontracting of core transportation operations is prohibited, though ancillary services may be subcontracted with full prime‑contractor oversight. Insurance must include $3 M sexual‑abuse/molestation coverage and other standard coverages.
