Purchase of Solar Powered Connected Warning Beacon Flasher (CWBF)

The City of Dearborn Heights is soliciting quotes for the purchase of solar-powered connected warning beacon flashers. The flashers will be used to increase roadway compliance and safety in applications such as stop signs, speed limit signs, and curve ahead beacons. The City is looking for a modular system with a self-contained or cabinet-based solar power module. The system should be able to operate in a 24-7 mode and have low voltage disconnect protection to prevent fully discharging the battery. The City also requires the system to have integrated Bluetooth local communications for on-site configuration and diagnostics via a purpose-built mobile app. Some key features of the system include: • Modular design with self-contained or cabinet-based solar power module • Integrated knockdown sensor and 5 A DC power supply/relay • Externally mounted Bluetooth antenna for local communications and GPS antenna for remote communications • Capability to be wired via a centralized or distributed approach • Conformity to all provisions of the MUTCD or MUTCDC, where applicable • Pre-wired to the maximum extent possible • Owner-approved equals will be permitted The City requires the system to be FCC certified, manufactured in the USA, and compliant with Buy American and Build America (BABA) requirements. The manufacturer should provide a 3-year limited warranty, with the exception of the battery, which should be covered by a 1-year warranty.
