RFP026-40 ECC Clerk of the Works

The City of Meriden is seeking an experienced firm/individual to provide municipal project oversight services for the new Emergency Communications Center (ECC) project. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of all aspects of construction and relevant Connecticut building codes. The scope of work includes observing the quality and progress of construction, maintaining records, and coordinating with the owner, builder, and architect. Key responsibilities include developing a thorough familiarity with the project, maintaining continuous communication with stakeholders, and evaluating requests for change orders. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal communications skills, basic writing and computer skills, and the ability to constructively participate in dispute resolution. • Broad general understanding of current construction practices, methods, and materials • Broad knowledge of building codes and ability to research specific code questions • General knowledge of major building systems and how they work • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contracts • Ability to understand the results of material testing and sampling • Ability to understand warranties and conditions that invalidate those warranties • Knowledge of techniques for construction scheduling and site administration • Thorough knowledge of construction site safety requirements and environmental laws and concerns
