Annual Testing & Inspection of Aerial & Lifting Devices

The City of Ames is seeking a qualified contractor to provide annual testing and inspection of 20 aerial and lifting devices and 2 fire truck aerial ladders. The work includes comprehensive inspection and nondestructive testing of the structural integrity and mechanical conditions of these fleet vehicles. The contractor must ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards and regulations, including OSHA, ANSI, ASTM, and NFPA. The testing schedule will be coordinated with Justin Vasey, Lead Fleet Technician. Some key points to consider: • Visual inspection of aerial device and vehicle chassis • Magnetic particle inspection of critical weldments • Ultrasonic inspection of accessible pins • Drift/load test • Functional and operational tests • Conditional analysis of hydraulic fluid • Acoustical emissions test and dielectric testing of hydraulic fluid for 10 aerial units with fiberglass boom sections The City of Ames reserves the right to renew this contract for up to four additional 12-month contract renewal periods.
