The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking a Time-Domain Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (TD-NMR) Body Composition Analyzer. The analyzer should be capable of measuring composition (moisture, protein, fat, connective tissue, etc.) and T2 properties (transverse relaxation time, proportion of free and tightly bound water populations, etc.) in intact meat samples up to 650 g. The system should also be able to measure composition in either small poultry carcasses or bone-in poultry carcass parts. The key features of the analyzer include:
• Non-invasive, in-vivo body composition measurements
• T2 properties for assessing meat/muscle water properties
• Operation without cryogens and on standard 110–240 V AC laboratory power
• Support for high-throughput workflows necessary for repeated daily measurements in longitudinal studies
• Full operation indoors without specialized shielding or infrastructure modifications
The vendor shall provide the TD-NMR analyzer, probes/sample holders, operational software, and technical support.
