Access to Additional Quality Infant and Toddler Child Care Enrollment Opportunities

The Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) is seeking proposals to establish partnerships with full-time licensed childcare programs in the New River Valley area to provide quality infant and toddler care and education to Virginia Tech families. The selected provider will be required to provide a minimum number of additional enrollment opportunities (slots) in year one and year two for Virginia Tech employees and students. The provider must have a full-time program licensed by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) located in the New River Valley and provide care and education in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. Some key requirements include: • Providing a plan for recruitment and retention of well-trained teachers and classroom support staff • Participating in Virginia Quality Rating and Improvement System (VQB5) and Virginia's Child Care Subsidy Program • Providing developmentally appropriate practices that support each child's physical, cognitive, social-emotional, and language development • Utilizing active parent engagement strategies that support parents as the child's first and most important teacher
