Intent to Sole Source - Prototrak 1845RX CNC Lathe

The United States Air Force intends to award a sole source contract for the acquisition of a Prototrak 1845RX CNC Lathe for the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) located at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. The proposed source is Charles Jones Machinery Inc. The contract will be a firm fixed price contract. The scope of work includes the delivery, installation, training, and setup of the CNC lathe within 26-36 weeks after the date of contract award. The vendor will provide all necessary training for hardware and software use for 5 users with no expiration date for use. The contract also includes a 2-year extended warranty for parts and service. • The CNC lathe must be a 2-axis 1845RX model Prototrak CNC lathe equipped with a programmable carriage, programmable cross slide, and a manual tailstock. • The swing over bed capacity must be at least 18 inches, and the swing over cross slide must be at least 9 inches. • The distance between centers must be at least 42 inches and not exceed 46 inches. • The floor space must not exceed 89in x 56in, and the machine weight must not exceed 3300lbs. • The spindle motor must be 10 horsepower, and the spindle nose size must have standard D1-6 capability. • The contract includes a trade-in of a good condition Prototrak 1845SX, and the contractor shall be responsible for removal and delivery of the new machine.
