The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking a field deployable X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) system for stress measurements on engineering materials, such as steel, in laboratory and outdoor environments. The system should be portable, able to operate using standard single-phase 115V or 120V electrical power, and include means for emergency stop of X-ray generation. The contractor shall provide a Firm-Fixed-Price Quotation corresponding to the requirements identified in the attached Specifications. The quotation shall clearly include each requirement, including option, warranty, installation, and training requirements.
• The system shall be capable of measuring and computing axial, shear, and transverse stress components in iron and steel materials.
• The system shall be able to export raw intensity vs. two-theta (or similar) peak profile data.
• The system shall be portable indoors and outdoors via protective pack-out boxes or similar.
• The system shall include means of securing to horizontal and vertical surfaces.
• The system shall include a form of enclosure or radiation shielding.
• The system shall include any necessary alignment fixtures/guides for proper system setup and measurement.
• The system shall include zero-stress and low/high-stress standards for calibration and alignment verification.
• The system shall include means for emergency stop of X-ray generation.
• The system shall include a visible hardware indicator showing when the X-ray tube is active or the shutter is open.
The contractor shall also provide installation, training, and warranty services. The installation shall be completed within 14 days after delivery, and the training shall be completed immediately after installation. The contractor shall warrant the entire system for a period of a minimum of one year.
