FIBER TRADE STUDIES FOR THE COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION OF MERINO TPS

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is seeking a vendor to perform fiber trade studies for the commercial production of Merino TPS. The vendor will be required to procure 5 denier carbon and kynol fibers and perform trades on fiber diameter and carbon-to-phenolic composition on their commercial production line. The vendor will also be required to perform several cross-lapper variations on the commercial line to establish the settings that yield batting with the highest through-the-thickness strength and batting yield. • The vendor must have previous experience with fabrication of flight-quality TPS. • The vendor must be certified to ISO 9001 / AS9100 or better. • The period of performance for this effort shall be from August 2026 to 30 March 2027.
