COMBINED SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE AND NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: 1552.93 NM LASER SYSTEM

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a 1552.93 nm laser system. The system must meet specific requirements, including a design wavelength centered at 1550 nm, a tunable range of at least 100 nm, and a maximum tuning step size of 10 pm. The system must also be coupled to polarization maintaining fiber with an output power of at least 3 mW. • The laser system must have a stable single frequency operation and a linewidth of less than 1 kHz. • The relative intensity noise must be less than -150 dBc / Hz at 1 MHz. • The system must include a power supply and all communication electronics, as well as software control. • The purpose of this investigation is to provide air data calibration capability for US Air Force calibration laboratories.
