The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified award for the project titled "Pearl Harbor Fleet Mooring F-6-N - Sand Removal". The project aims to remove sand from within Fleet Mooring F-6-N, a historic concrete structure within Pearl Harbor's Battleship Row, as part of the historic structure's preservation. The project will also include onsite scoping, development of a project scope and work methodology, and coordination with the National Park Service. The recipient will be responsible for providing qualified staffing and support, conducting and involving active duty military Field School participants, and utilizing and teaching the best available technology and practices for sand removal and storage.
• The project will provide maintenance to a historic structure and expose participants to the National Park Service by merging knowledge of historic preservation and the Secretary of Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties with the concrete and construction industry.
• The project will support a larger collaboration between the National Park Service and the Concrete Preservation Institute to assist service members with finding career opportunities in the concrete industry as they transition to civilian careers.
• The project will include a field school project to train and educate military service members to preserve and repair historic concrete structures.
• The National Park Service will provide access to transportation, obtain necessary approvals, facilitate certified divers to conduct underwater investigation, and support the project by leading and completing compliance review.
