Description

The National Culvert Removal, Replacement, and Restoration (Culvert Aquatic Organism Passage) Competitive Grant Program aims to provide funding to eligible entities for the replacement, removal, and repair of culverts or weirs that meaningfully improve or restore fish passage for anadromous fish. Eligible applicants include states, units of local government, and Indian Tribes. The program requires a minimum cost share of 20% except for federally recognized Tribes, which are not required to provide a cost share. The program prioritizes projects that would improve fish passage for anadromous fish, including those listed as endangered or threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Some key points about the job and scope-of-work include: * The replacement, removal, or repair of culverts or weirs to improve fish passage for anadromous fish * The improvement of habitat availability for target anadromous species by increasing the extent and quality of accessible spawning, rearing, and migratory habitats * The benefit to other native aquatic and terrestrial species beyond anadromous fish * The promotion of economic competitiveness through the restoration of anadromous fish stocks supporting commercial or tourism activities * The expansion of access to traditional food sources or reduction of food insecurity for rural and Tribal communities

Budget estimate

$10,000,000 – $20,000,000

The budget for this grant program can be estimated based on the total funding available, which is up to $800 million. The actual award amount will depend on the number of eligible applications and the ranking of the projects based on the merit criteria. Assuming an average award amount of $10 million to $20 million per project, the budget for a single project could be in the range of $10 million to $20 million. However, this is just a rough estimate and the actual budget could be higher or lower depending on the specific project and the funding available. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the project, the cost of materials and labor, and the level of competition for the funding.
