Strengthening national laboratory and HIV epidemiologic monitoring capacities and systems to enhance an efficient, resilient and self-reliant response to HIV, TB and related public health threats in the Kingdom of Eswatini under PEPFAR

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking applications to strengthen national laboratory and HIV epidemiologic monitoring capacities and systems in the Kingdom of Eswatini. The goal of this project is to enhance an efficient, resilient, and self-reliant response to HIV, TB, and related public health threats. The project will focus on supporting the national laboratory system, advancing interoperability of laboratory and clinical information systems, and ensuring testing quality through local proficiency testing and laboratory certification schemes. • The project will support the national laboratory system to enhance diagnostic network operations and optimize national sample referral systems. • The project will provide technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of Health and other relevant government entities to oversee, conduct, and advance HIV and TB epidemic monitoring. • The project will aim to show progress toward health security benchmarks, indicating that Eswatini has established self-reliant systems, structures, policies, and a workforce capable of preparing for, identifying, and responding to concerning signals in HIV, TB, and related public health threats.
