Notice of Intent to Sole Source Physical Property Measurement System Service

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with Quantum Design, Inc. on a sole source basis for physical property measurement system services. The services required include cryocooler maintenance for the Quantum Design USA Dynacool system, which is used to validate and verify material properties of devices made in the Boulder microfabrication facility. The maintenance must be performed by the vendor and is meant to restore the cooling power of the cryocooler by exchanging it for a refurbished unit. • The system is used by multiple groups to validate and verify material properties of devices. • Timely maintenance is required to prevent projects from being stalled. • The maintenance includes exchanging the cryocooler set and travel expenses and labor for a site visit from the vendor. • A 6-month warranty is included for refurbished parts.
