Description

The Local Agency Impaired Driving Prevention Strike Force/Task Force Program is a grant opportunity provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The program aims to reduce alcohol- and drug-related traffic fatalities and serious injuries through coordinated, multi-jurisdictional impaired-driving strike force/task force patrols. The grant will fund local agencies to plan and conduct impaired-driving enforcement operations across multiple jurisdictions. The program will focus on high-risk locations, dates, and times to maximize deterrence and reduce impaired-driving crashes, fatalities, and serious injuries. Key aspects of the program include: • Coordinated impaired-driving saturation patrols involving multiple agencies in a high-crash corridor during weekends and holidays. • Joint enforcement operations focusing on both alcohol- and drug-impaired driving in areas with a history of impaired-driving crashes or arrests. • Regional strike force details that include DRE callout availability and law enforcement forensic phlebotomy support during peak enforcement times. • High-visibility enforcement campaigns scheduled to coincide with statewide or national impaired-driving mobilizations. • Targeted patrols focusing on special events that have produced impaired-driving issues in the past. • Operations that integrate impaired-driving enforcement with occupant protection and speed enforcement in high-risk corridors.
