Soo Locks Generator and Duct Bank

The Soo Locks Generator and Duct Bank project involves the construction of a new duct bank and manholes, as well as the installation of new feeders and the removal of existing ones. Additionally, the project includes the construction of a new natural gas fueled back-up generator system, including a building to house the generators, switchgear, and control equipment. The project aims to provide reliable standby power to the Soo Locks Complex. • The project involves the construction of new duct bank and manholes from Magazine Street Substation to a new manhole above Shaft #1. • New cable tray and supports will be installed within shaft 1 and the services tunnel to a splice point between Shafts #3 and #4. • The existing unreliable feeders will be demolished and removed. • A new natural gas fueled back-up generator system will be constructed, including a 6,448 square foot load bearing CMU and brick veneer building. • The new generator system will provide reliable standby power to the Soo Locks Complex.
