The United States Air Force is conducting market research to identify possible sources for a hardware and software system solution to replace the legacy Multi-Function Display Units (MFDUs) in the C-5M Replacement Multi-Functional Controls and Displays (RMCD) program. The solution should resolve diminishing manufacturing source issues, avoid aircraft grounding issues, and improve overall aircraft availability metrics. The contractor will be required to provide a product baseline, sufficient system quantities, and support equipment, and must conform to applicable military and aviation standards. The contractor will also be responsible for providing, maintaining, and calibrating all support equipment required. • The solution should resolve known diminishing manufacturing source issues with the Line Replaceable Unit (LRU). • The solution should avoid projected aircraft Mission Incapable for Parts-based grounding issues. • The solution should improve overall aircraft availability metrics. • The contractor shall ensure that their solution conforms to applicable military and aviation standards. • The contractor shall prioritize the use of the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA).
