Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from potential sources for the provision of a Direct Current Comparator (DCC) bridge, a high resistance bridge, and scanners. The equipment will be used to support NIST's resistance measurement services and research activities. The DCC bridge should have a quantum Hall resistance ratio bridge with a 4-terminal room temperature resistance ratio bridge, and the high resistance bridge should have a binary voltage divider with a 4-terminal room temperature resistance ratio bridge. The scanners should be automated low thermal matrix scanners and high resistance matrix scanners. The equipment should be compatible with NIST's existing system bridge control software and hardware components. The key features of the required equipment include: * Interoperability with existing system bridge control software and hardware components * Remote control through IEEE-488 interface * Ability to operate at 120 V line voltage * 4-terminal room temperature resistance ratio bridge with tellurium-copper binding post terminals * Automated comparison of standard resistors using the Cutkosky Divider principle * Ability to measure precise ratios of resistance standards with uncertainty at 2 sigma level * Automated temperature coefficient measurements and calculation of alpha and beta coefficients * Compatibility with NIST's statistics and analysis software * Delivery shall occur not later than 12 months after receipt of order * The contractor shall provide a warranty for a period of a minimum of 2 years after receipt of the equipment Some of the key benefits of this opportunity include: * The chance to work with a renowned research institution * The opportunity to provide equipment that will support NIST's resistance measurement services and research activities * The potential for future collaborations and contracts with NIST However, there are also some challenges and considerations that potential responders should be aware of: * The equipment must meet very specific technical requirements * The contractor must be able to provide a warranty for a minimum of 2 years * The delivery schedule is relatively long, with a 12-month deadline * The contractor must be able to provide equipment that is compatible with NIST's existing system bridge control software and hardware components

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is not explicitly stated in the document. However, based on the complexity and specificity of the required equipment, it is likely that the budget will be substantial. The cost of the equipment will depend on various factors such as the type and quality of the equipment, the manufacturer, and the delivery schedule. Some of the factors that could influence the budget include: * The cost of the DCC bridge and high resistance bridge * The cost of the scanners and other equipment * The cost of delivery and installation * The cost of warranty and maintenance * The cost of any additional services or support required by NIST Based on these factors, a rough estimate of the budget could be in the range of $500,000 to $2,000,000. However, this is purely speculative and the actual budget could be higher or lower.
