USMC National Museum Sherman Tank Transportation & Salvage UPDATED 21 MAY 2026

The National Museum of the Marine Corps requires services for the salvage, recovery, and transportation of one M4A3 Sherman tank and the salvage of usable parts from a second M4A3 Sherman tank. The tanks are located at Marine Corps Base Twentynine Palms, California, and the recovered tank and salvaged parts are to be transported to the NMMC's Museum Support Facility in Dumfries, Virginia. The contractor will be responsible for providing a crane capable of lifting a 34-ton M4A3 Sherman tank, scheduling a truck equipped with an RGN semi-trailer, and loading the tank for transportation. The contractor will also be responsible for salvaging parts from the second tank, palletizing and securing the parts, and transporting them to the Museum Support Facility. • The contractor must have applicable certifications for salvage work and the running of equipment and machinery. • The contractor must have the ability and resources to transport the artifacts in a company-owned air-ride vehicle or truck with climate control. • The contractor must provide licensed crane operators, riggers, and certified forklift operators. • The contractor must provide proof of insurance coverage for the value of $250,000. • The contractor must complete registration in the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) prior to entering the base.
