Description

Texas State University is seeking a responsive and responsible firm to provide a cryogen-free superconducting measurement system. The system should support automated magnetization and electrical-transport measurements within a cryostat providing 1.8–400 K temperature control and a superconducting magnet capable of at least ±9 T with ±0.1% on-axis uniformity over 5.5 cm. The cryogenic platform must operate without liquid-helium transfers, using an integrated pulse-tube refrigerator, a helium compressor with a ≥20,000-hour adsorber interval, and continuous internal helium recondensation. • The system must deliver verified performance metrics, including cooldown from 300 K to 1.9 K in under 45 minutes, temperature stability of ±0.1% (<20 K) and ±0.02% (>20 K), and bipolar magnet-supply resolution of at least 24 bits. • Proposals must include facility requirements such as instrument dimensions, power needs, heat load, and any renovation work required to house the electronics and pumping cabinet. • Vendors must document at least five U.S. installations of comparable systems and commit to on-site installation, user training, 12-month parts-and-labor warranty, and U.S.-based repair and support availability.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The estimated budget for this opportunity can range from $500,000 to $2,000,000, considering the complexity of the cryogen-free superconducting measurement system and the requirements for on-site installation, user training, and warranty. The actual budget may vary depending on the proposal submitted by the selected respondent.
