The NIH seeks a sole‑source contract with the University of Illinois at Chicago to conduct pre‑clinical animal research evaluating soluble adenylyl cyclase (sAC) inhibitors (KH7 and LRE1) in a murine model of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The study will use an established endothelial cell‑specific Cav1 knockout (EC‑Cav1 KO) mouse colony, requiring breeding, genotyping, implantation of osmotic pumps, drug administration, hypoxia exposure, echocardiography, right‑heart catheterization, tissue collection, and molecular analyses (Western blot, RNA‑seq). A total of 144 mice (male and female, 3‑month‑old) will be used, with six animals per treatment arm, and replacement animals are anticipated for attrition. The contract will be a firm‑fixed‑price purchase order with a 12‑month performance period.
• Sole‑source award to UIC based on unique mouse colony.
• Services include animal breeding, colony maintenance, genotyping, surgical procedures, drug dosing, hypoxia chamber management, imaging, catheterization, necropsy, histology, and molecular sample preparation.
• NIH will supply 200 mg each of the two sAC inhibitors.
• Deadline for capability statements/quotes: 12:00 p.m. ET, September 21, 2026; award expected by September 30, 2026.
