Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a contractor to provide hospital patient porters for the South Texas Veterans Health Care System at two locations in San Antonio. The contractor will be responsible for providing a total of 12 hospital patient porters, including supervision, to provide services at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Memorial Hospital and the San Antonio Northwest Health Care Center. The contractor will be required to provide a channel through which patients can seek assistance to meet unresolved needs and work with healthcare providers/administrative support staff to optimize the comprehensive experience of Veterans and their family members. The contract period will be a 12-month base period with four option years.
Some key responsibilities of the contractor include:
* Serving as a greeter and providing a consistent, exceptional experience that builds the trust and confidence of Veterans and their families
* Providing a personal and positive first impression and standardizing the experience of assistance with navigation and information for Veterans and their family members
* Making a direct connection with Veterans, which provides an opportunity to engage and get their feedback
* Providing communication about VA services, location changes, and new initiatives and programs
* Assisting Veterans, family members, and Health Care System staff members in recognizing and removing obstacles to providing the optimal patient experience
* Assisting patients in getting into and out of their vehicles, loading and unloading patient wheelchairs as necessary
* Greeting patients in the parking lot and informing them on the availability of the parking lot cart/van/shuttle to the lobby area and assisting patients onto or off the cart/van/shuttle
* Serving as a liaison between the Veteran and Health Care Staff to provide maximal assistance to the Veteran and assist in resolving any conflicts or issues.
