The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified cooperative agreement. The project will provide long-term training opportunities to young adults to learn the hands-on skills of preserving and maintaining infrastructure while supporting an effort to decrease deferred maintenance at National Park Service sites across the country. The project will place participants of Conservation Legacy in long-term internships at NPS sites around the country, where they will receive basic skills and safety training and develop further craft skills while working on active deferred maintenance projects alongside NPS professionals.
• The project will complete at least 20,800 hours of maintenance on infrastructure across the service, including buildings, bridges, culverts, monuments, boardwalks, trails, and roads.
• The project will provide funding to Conservation Legacy to support long-term internships working on infrastructure projects within the National Park Service.
• The project will provide interns with living allowance, workers compensation, liability insurance, personnel management, and orientation to Conservation Legacy.
• The project will promote and stimulate public purpose, such as education, job training, development of responsible citizenship, productive community involvement, and furthering the understanding and appreciation of conservation through involvement of youth and young adults in care and enhancement of public resources.
